Philippians 4:13
I Refuse
I refuse to be discouraged, to be sad, or to cry; I refuse to be downhearted, and here's the reason why: I have a God who's mighty, Who's sovereign and supreme; I have a God who loves me, and by grace I'm on His team.
He is all-wise and powerful. Jesus is His name; Though everything is changeable, My God remains the same. My God knows all that's happening; Beginning to the end; His presence is my comfort; He is my dearest friend.
When sickness comes to weaken me, to bring my head down low,I call upon my mighty God; Into His arms I go. When circumstances threaten to rob me of my peace; He draws me close unto His breast, where all my strivings cease.
When my heart melts within me, and weakness takes control; He gathers me into His arms, He soothes my heart and soul. The great "I AM" is with me. My life is in His hand. The "Son of the Lord" is my hope. It's in His strength I stand.
I refuse to be defeated. My eyes are on my God; He has promised to be with me, as through this life I trod. I'm looking past all my circumstances, to Heaven's throne above; my prayers have reached the heart of God, I'm resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything. My eyes are on His face; The battle's His, the victory's mine; He'll help me win the race.

John 4:5-42
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." VS. 14
He was seated on the ground: legs outstretched, hands folded, back resting against the well. She stopped and looked at Him. He was obviously Jewish. What was He doing here?
Sensing her discomfort, Jesus asked her for water. But she was too streetwise to think that all He wanted was a drink. Her intuition was partly correct. He was interested in her heart.
They talked. Who could remember the last time a man had spoken to her with respect? He told her about a spring of water that would quench, not the thirst of the throat, but of the soul.
"Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water."
"Go, call your husband and come back."
"I have no husband." (Kindness has a way of inviting honesty.) This woman wondered what Jesus would do. He will be angry. He will think I'm worthless. "Your right. You have had five husbands and the man you are with now won't even give you a name."
No criticism: The woman was amazed. "I can see you are a prophet."
Then she asked the question that revealed the gaping hole in her soul. "Where is God? My people say He is on the mountain. Your people say he is in Jerusalem." I'd give a thousand sunsets to see the _expression on Jesus' face as he heard those words. Of all the women to have had an insatiable appetite for God----a five-time divorcee? And of all the people to be chosen to personally receive the secret of the ages----an outcast among outcasts? His eyes must have danced as He whispered the secret. "I am the Messiah."
"Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 'Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?' '' Did you notice what she forgot? She forgot her water jar. She left behind the burden she brought. Suddenly the insignificance of her life was swallowed by the significance of the moment. "God is here! God cares for me!"
The Greatest Moments in the Life of Christ
Max Lucado
Do you feel alone? Do you think no one cares? Do you thirst for things that are far beyond your reach? Jesus is quietly saying, "I'm here. I care for you. I can give you everlasting life." It's a simple act that only has a few steps:
Step 1 - Believe that Jesus is who He says He is, the Son of God, who died for your sins.
Step 2 - Confess your sins before Him, asking forgiveness.
Step 3 - Repent from the ways you live now and turn to God's ways.
Step 4 - Receive Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Saviour.
After you've taken these steps, live your life for Jesus. Read His word, the Bible, daily to help you grow in Christ. Attend church as regularly as possible with other members of God's family, so that you can mature in the Word. We here at North Moreland would love to have you join us. Our services are Sunday morning: Sunday School 9:30A Service 10:40A. Evening Service at 6:00P. Wednesday night service is at 7:00P.

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself." (Simply put----don't worry!) Matt. 6:34
We complicate our lives when we borrow trouble from the future. We waste our energy worrying about what might happen tomorrow; we become frantic and pressured looking at the many responsibilities on our to-do list for the next week, we lie awake obsessing over our plans for the upcoming month. Meanwhile we miss the precious gift of peace that God has given us right here, right now, in this tiny present moment that touches eternity.
We not only complicate our lives when we worry about the future; we also lose our peace of mind when we dwell too much in the past. We have all made mistakes, whether intentionally or not, we have all hurt our friends and loved ones and we have all spoken words we wish we could take back. The only thing to do is repent and go on.
When we obsess over the past, we are not allowing God to work on our lives right now. He will not only forgive the mistakes we have made, but when we totally surrender them to Him, He will even, somehow, use them for the glory of His kingdom.
Children live day by day, delighting in the here and now, untroubled by the future. When we can find that same wholehearted innocence, we, too, will know the peace of God. Luke 18:17 quotes Jesus as saying, "Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein."
And in quoting Philippians 3:13-14 in my own words, my prayer is that I can forget those things which are behind me and do my best to reach forth unto those things which are ahead of me. So, that I can press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of my God, in Christ Jesus.
In our own power, we can never "fix things." All we can do is trust Him.

John 20:1-18
Could you imagine yourself in these womens sandals that first Easter morning? Still mourning the death of a dear friend and going to the grave to prepare His body and discovering the stone rolled away! Their dear friend was not in the grave! Gone!! Where could they have taken Him!
How the events of the past few days had clogged their memory of the words Jesus had spoken unto them, "The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." (Luke 24:7)
Have we let the worldly things and events today clog our memory of what Jesus death, burial and resurrection means for us? Have we forgotten the hope in His resurrection? The covering of our sins from the Blood He shed? Christ died for us, so that we might live!! Jesus left His beautiful home in heaven to come to earth in the form of man for the sole purpose to die for our sins, because He LOVED us !!
Take time this Easter day to reflect back on what Easter is really all about. Its not the bunnies and the eggs, but about a Savior who died for us, was buried and then rose again victorious over death, hell and the grave!
King of my life I crown thee now
thine shall the glory be;
Lest I forget thy thorn-crowned brow,
Lead me to Calvary.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen" Matt. 28:19-20
The Missionary Convention was this weekend and if you didn't make it out you sure missed a great message from Ryan Holbrook. Ryan brought to our attention that Christ left His home and His comfort zone to go to a mission field to win the lost. Not only did Christ come to help win the lost, he came to be the sacrifice for the lost so that they could have salvation and be restored to the Father. If Jesus did that for us, shouldn't we be trying to follow in is His footsteps and help win the lost around us?
Not all of us are called to leave the country to witness to those who've never heard, but we are all called to witness to those around us. We live amongst a missionary field every day. Do they see Christ in us? Does our light shine bright out to those who need direction? Have you taken a moment to just smile at someone and tell them Jesus loves them?
The above verses are words from Jesus Himself. Commanding us to go and teach others about Him. What are we ashamed of? For all that Christ went through for us, how can we be ashamed of Him? Christ said "if your ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you".
This thought brings to mind a song that grips my heart every time I hear it. It's titled "Here I Am Again" written by Mark Hall and performed by Casting Crowns. The song is taken from 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 & Romans 10:14.
Verse 1
Father, hear my prayer. I need the perfect words. Words that he will hear and know they're straight from You. I don't know what to say. I only know it hurts to see my friend slowly fade away.
Chorus
So maybe this time I'll speak the words of life, with Your fire in my eyes. But, that old familiar fear is tearing at my words. What am I so afraid of?
'Cause here I go again, talkin' about the rain and mulling over things that won't live past today. And as I dance around the truth, time is not his friend. This might be my last chance to tell him that You love him. But here I go again, here I go again.
Verse 2
Lord, You love him so, You gave Your only Son. If he will just believe; he will never die. But how then will he know what he has never heard, Lord, he has never seen mirrored in my life. (Back to the chorus)
Do we have family, neighbors, friends or co-workers who don't know the Words of Life, due to our lack of communication with them on the greatest gift God has ever given us, JESUS? I think we all need to do alittle mission work, don't you?

What a wonderful time we all had last Sunday night with the group, 'Adam's Voice' They (David, Charlene & Jeremy) are truly a group out to minister through their songs! I wouldn't mind seeing them back sometime soon. Let's remember to pray for them as they travel around the country singing for the Lord.
A big thank you goes to all who made the surprise party go smoothly. Thanks ladies. Happy retirement to Pastor Paul after 35 years of teaching in our public school system. I love those times of fellowship when we all can get together and have a good time. Some of us stayed till midnight, sitting around talking about what the Lord has done for us.

Happy Valentine's Day
Sunday February 13, 2005
Today is "Special Person Day" at North Moreland. How appropriate that this day preceeds Valentine's Day. A day that we celebrate love with those special people in our live. 1 Corinthians
13:13 says "And now abideth faith, hope and charity (love), these three: But the greatest of these is charity (love)." Tell someone you love them today and let them know they're special in your eyes
Since, as apostle John said, God is love, He knows what love is all about...and he gave us a picture of love in it's purest form in His Son Jesus Christ. We find a stunning portrait of Him in God's Word, the Bible, We're the apple of God's eye! We're adopted into God's family...an adopted child is always a wanted!
Behold the 'amazing gift of love
The Father hath bestowed
On us, the sinful sons of men,
To call us sons of God!
High is the rank we now possess:
But higher we shall rise;
Though what we shall hereafter be
Is hid from mortal eyes

SUNDAY SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE DAY
Sunday February 6, 2005
We at Northmoreland appreciate all the hard work and prayer that the Sunday School teachers put into teaching us about the Lord. Let your teacher know how much you appreciate them and remember them in your prayers. Remember, teachers have lasting impressions on their students. They DO make a difference in our lives. A special thanks goes to Tammy Nourse for decorating the bulletin board downstairs. The bulletin boards made me remember when I was broken in pieces and God put me back together again. Thank you Lord!

Super Church Day
Sunday Jan. 30, 2005
"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red, yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world." Big church will be invaded by Jesus' precious little ones this morning."
Pastor Chris, Scott and Ed will demonstrate a Sunday morning in Super Church for us. I always enjoy this day, it takes me back to when I was young, going to Sunday School and VBS....the songs we learned as a child stick with us, don't they? Just goes to show how important it is for us to teach those songs to the kids today. God has used this ministry to reach the little ones so they can grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The following is what a Super Church worker, Ed Zeno, had to say about Super Church and its Pastor, Chris Meenach. "The Super Church is a place for kids ages 6-12 to get to know Jesus and get to know Him better. It teaches them to be a young Christian. We have an average of 45-50 kids every Sunday morning. We sing and give them am opportunity to pray for friends and family. We have 'object lessons' with everyday household items as visuals. Sometimes with a magic trick, a slide picture story or flash cards. Though the lessons are written, we ad-lib most of it. Pastor Chris has been an inspiration on how a minister of God should be; anointed, prepared, faithful, enthusiastic and experienced. The most impressive thing about him is that no matter what's going on in his life, he's there and he's always the same. It reminds me of Psalm 23:5 "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." It is a privilege for us to be working under him and we'd rather be with the kids on Sunday Morning."

LADIES' DAY
Sunday Jan.23, 2005
As I thought about this special day to honor the ladies of our church, my mind went to some precious ladies who've went home to be with the Lord. Each one had a large impact on my walk with God here at Northmoreland. I thought of Goldie Taylor, Katherine Oiler, Doris Seth and Mary Alice Whitt. I thank God for those precious jewels that He placed in the right spots at the right time. Each had a part in shaping my life in some way. I thank God for them.
Then I thought of all the ladies that are finishing up the work that those ladies left behind. How I love and admire each and every one of you. I pray that one day God will use me to touch someone's life the way all of you have touched mine. Thanks for all your prayers, your love and all your inspiration.
Take time to reflect on the women who have touched your life. You'll get a blessing remembering those precious jewels that have shaped you. Remember, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend?" Who's the diamond in your life?

YOUTH DAY
Sunday January 6, 2005
As you strolled into church today, did you take time to notice the teens? Today our Sunday school superintendent Tom Erwin, gave us a special time to show the youth at North Moreland that we appreciate them. These teens (13-19yrs) are the future of North Moreland, but most importantly, the future of God's church. They're future preachers, teachers, singers and pastors. So, lets' show our support for the teens. Set a goal to make it out to the youth services, and other youth functions that may arise. Check for Youth events in future newsletters. We'll do our best to keep you informed.
We'd like to encourage all the teens to attend Sunday school each week, as well as attending our evening services. Ed Zeno is the teens teacher and he welcomes all to come and learn more about the Lord. The Christian Baptist conference Youth Choir has begun. Anyone interested in getting involved contact Nathan Davis for all the details.
So, to all the teens I send out a big huge hug of appreciation for your love and devotion to God and to the church. Keep running the race! Don't quit, God has mighty things ahead for you on your road of life. Serve Him with all your heart! We love each and every one of you.
